The A-DVICE project partners represent five Nordic countries: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. The partners also have among them good contact with the other autonomous regions of the Nordics (Faroe Islands, Åland and Greenland), which will ensure relevance for and inclusion of these in the project.

The Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) is one of Norway’s leading environmental research institutes with a long history of working on environmental and resource issues national and international contexts. NIVA recently led the two first Nordic NBS programme projects: SITUATION and SUMMATION. NIVA also leads the European Topic Centre on Biodiversity and Ecosystems, which will support the European Environmental Agency in the implementation of the range of EU directives, strategies and policies constituting the environmental acquis. The team also has a strong network with relevant public sector and stakeholders in Norway through several projects concerning policy and implementation of NBS in both rural and urban areas.

Norion Consult (Denmark) has worked in the Nordic countries and internationally with environmental policy and administration for more than 25 years. Norion has prepared several Nordic policy mappings and analyses, including the recent NbS report regarding synergies between biodiversity and climate measures, analyses of the use of soft incentives and regulatory instruments, case studies of national biodiversity targets and local incentives for the management of nature areas, and comparative studies of the use of different policy tools in the Nordics. Norion has also recently carried through a project aimed at analysing the understanding and use of the term Nature Risk as a further development of Climate Risk.

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is the largest research and technology company and research centre conducting applied research in Finland. The VTT team possesses high-level expertise including climate risk analysis, adaptation and governance, socio-economic and climatic interactions, and nature-based solutions (co-)design and impact evaluation. We also have experience in socially just and equitable climate change adaptation and
adaptation governance, environmental and climate change policy, sustainable cities and built environment, and stakeholder engagement. VTT’s innovations to connect citizens, experts and
policymakers and support evidence-informed decision-making are deployed via a wide range of European projects, such as SPARCS, NetZeroCities, mySMARTlife, SYNERGY, UNaLab, FRANCIS EU and Regions4Climate.

Ensucon AB is a growing company working within all areas of the environmental consulting with focus on developing interdisciplinary approaches to tackle environmental problems. Although Ensucon is a young company, we have over 20 years of experience working with nature-based solutions in a wide range of projects and disciplines. Our projects include management and risk assessments for water, wetlands, climate adaptation, air pollution, flooding, and waste. Our projects range within a range of local, regional and national authorities with policy development and analysis, stakeholder engagement, policy analysis and we are represented in international conventions and the European Commission.

The Institute for Sustainability Studies (ISS) is part of the University of Iceland. The aim of the institute is to catalyse, facilitate and coordinate research to promote sustainable development. They require an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on competence from various fields. As an interdisciplinary institute within the University of Iceland the ISS is in a key position to bring together experts from all disciplines within and outside the University. The ISS also strives to promote public awareness and understanding of sustainable development through open lectures and conferences. The ISS has recently led the NORDRESS project, funded by NordForsk, with partners from 15 institutions form all Nordic countries.
